The School of Language & Literature is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in

film with opportunities for practical engagement in film-making. The

teaching and administrative duties across all years of the ‘Film and
Visual Culture’ programme but will also be expected to contribute to
other aspects of the School’s work, especially in relation to the
activities of its various research centres and, in particular, to the
development of the recently established Washington Wilson Centre for
Visual Culture. The successful candidate will also be expected to
contribute to postgraduate supervision, and to the administrative
requirements of the School as a whole – all members of the School, for
instance, act as personal tutors to c. 20 undergraduates. Candidates
will be required to have a documented research profile consistent with
the current stage of their career as well as clear potential for a
high-scoring submission in any future evaluation of research achievement.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 salary scale
(£37,756 – £45,053 per annum) with placement according to qualifications
and experience.
