October 17-18, 2014
FUTURE OF JOURNALISM
CALL FOR PAPERS

The world media are in crisis as a result of the collapse of
monopolistic business model based on advertisers. New technologies
have helped in this process, but also led to the emergence of a large
number of media that have yet to find a profitable business model and
impose as a substitute for the watchdog function of the newspapers.
New technologies helped media content to be consumed quickly and on a
variety of platforms. Also, media audiences no longer want to be
passive. Audience wants to be found by information and to be directly
involved in the production of content. At the same time, journalistic
sources no longer need journalists to tell stories, and whistleblowers
directly communicate with the audience.

New technologies are increasing the transparency of journalism which
leads to decrease in the credibility of the media and journalism in
general. Due to cost cutting, journalism newsrooms are shrinking and
less investigative journalism is conducted.

Possible topics include, but are not limited to, issues surrounding
the following questions:
•	What are the business models of media with special focus on online
and mobile media?
•	What are the new platforms for content distribution and their future?
•	How the fragmentation of media audiences affects the media industry?
•	How is the relationship between journalists and media audience changing?
•	What is the future of investigative journalism?
•	How to increase transparency and quality of journalistic content?
•	What is the role of citizen journalism?
•	What is the role of quality journalism and content specialization?

Different theoretical and empirical scientific approaches are welcome.
