The Department of Media and Communication at the City University of Hong Kong continues to build up its faculty strength and invites applications for the following posts. The Department has a strong international team of scholars at the forefront of research and publication in International Communication, Media Effects, New Media, Communication for Social Change, and Political Economy of the Media.


Chair Professor/Professor/Associate Professor [Ref. C/060/09]

We accept applications from all areas of specialization within the media and communication field.
Requirements

A PhD in Communication/Media Studies or related disciplines. Outstanding record of scholarly achievement in both teaching and research, and a strong record in research grant coordination and/or academic management expertise are essential. The recruitment will be open to all areas of specialization. As English is the language of instruction, a strong command of written and spoken English is essential. Ability to work well with colleagues is essential.
Assistant Professor [Ref. C/060/09]
We are looking to fill positions in
(1)    Public Relations/Advertising;
(2)    New Media, and
(3)   Visual Communication

Requirements
A PhD in Communication/Media Studies or related disciplines. Outstanding record of scholarly achievement in both teaching and research is essential, and a starting record in research grant acquisition is a plus. The recruitment will be open to the above three areas of specialization, with priorities given to outstanding scholars who are also able to teach some skill courses in any of the following areas: Digital TV/Advertising/Journalism and Broadcasting/New Media. As English is the language of instruction, a strong command of written and spoken English is essential. Ability to work well with colleagues is essential.
Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance. Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable). Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.

Part-Time Lecturers
Duties

The Department of Media and Communication at City University of Hong Kong seeks part-time lecturers to teach the following courses in the upcoming semester.

    * Fundamentals of Advertisement
    * Integrated Marketing Communication Principles and Practices
    * Strategic Media Planning
    * Writing for Public Relations
    * Broadcast Advertising

Requirements

Qualified candidates should have an MA degree in the related areas. PhD candidate will be considered. Professional experience in visual communication, video production or production design is a must. Teaching experience at the university level in the related areas is preferred.
Salary

Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
