Call for Papers

Radio Research Conference 2015: Diversity, Innovation& Policies

http://radioresearch2015.org

28-30 October 2015.

Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain)

The next conference of the Radio Research Section of ECREA will be
held at the Getafe campus of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid
(Spain), from 28-30 October 2015. The theme is Radio: Diversity,
Innovation& Policies. The challenges presented by the digitalization
and convergence process have made the radio medium move into a new
scenario in which it has been redefining its role. Such scenario
raises important questions regarding its adaptability towards
innovation, the public policies on digitalization and the reality of
the radio medium diversity in its distinctive aspects.

In order to address such challenges the Radio Research International
conference will allow us to further discuss these various topics
through different plenary and parallel communication sessions
with a total of 70 to 100 papers. Besides, we would like to take the
opportunity to strengthen the relations between associations and
researchers of Europe and Latin America, given the privileged position
of Madrid as connection axis between both realities.

Deadline for abstract submissions: Friday 27th March 2015 (18:00 hours
Greenwich Mean Time)

The Scientific Committee of the conference will select the proposals
that should deal with the following topics:

- radio and cultural diversity
– radio innovation and multi-platform delivery
– ownership, regulation and governance of radio
– radio genres
– radio audiences
– radio technologies
– production practices
– sound studies
– distribution technologies
– histories and historiographies of radio
– radio and parallel visual and textual content
– radio futures
– redefining radio content on new platforms
– radio pedagogies
– copyright, copyleft and radio creation

It is NOT necessary to be a member of the Radio Research Section of
ECREA in order to participate in the conference, however ECREA members
will be encouraged to join the section.

It is NOT necessary to be a member of ECREA in order to participate,
although a substantial discount of the registration fee will apply to
ECREA members.

Presentations should normally take the form of posters or 15-minute
papers. For posters and individual papers, please submit a 250-word
abstract, as well as a short biographical note of up to 100 words.

Please bear in mind that the main language of the conference is
English, but that contributions should be easily understood by as wide
an audience as possible. You might consider presenting in one language
and showing text on a PowerPoint in another.

All proposals should be uploaded through the website
(radioresearch2015.org) by the deadline of friday 27th March 2015
(18:00 hours Greenwich Mean Time).

All proposals will be acknowledged and then blind peer-reviewed by the
conference scientific committee. Final decisions will be communicated
to proposers personally no later than 15 april 2015

We look forward the Radio conference of ECREA in Madrid will be a
great opportunity to further progress in the development of the
research on the radio medium and the creation and consumption of sound
contents. We look forward to welcoming as many Radio Research Section
members, other members of ECREA, and other scholars of radio as
possible in MADRID in October.
