Assistant Professor of Practice in Business and Professional Communication
Job Description:
The College of Media and Communication at Texas Tech University seeks an
Assistant Professor of Practice in Business and Professional
Communication to oversee and teach courses in professional andbusiness
communication. The assistant professor of practice also will be expected
to train and mentor graduate student lab instructors for the college’s
professional communication course. The successful candidate will have a
strong background in delivering speeches, creating and presenting
business proposals, and pitching and promoting new business ideas. The
professional communication course, in particular, focuses on media and
communication practices associated with entrepreneurism and innovation.
This includes new business pitches, requests for proposals, and
presentations. The candidate also should have significant professional
experience in business and/or media-related professions, such as
advertising, electronic media, journalism, organizational communication,
public relations, and social media. The position requires a master’s
degree in business, media and communication, or related field and
carries a teaching load of seven courses a year. Professors of practice
are expected to have a professional expertise, keep current in their
respective professional field and publish on professional websites or in
trade journals, magazines, or newspapers.
