University of Surrey
Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences
1 x Associate Dean - Research (Reader/Prof level)
1 x Reader/Professor - Digital Media Arts
5 x Senior Lecturers / Lecturers - Arts
The Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences is inviting Prof/Reader level
applications for an Associate Dean for Research, along with applications
for six new academic posts in the areas of digital media arts and film,
performing arts, arts management, and Learning & Teaching within a
creative arts context.
The Arts at Surrey are dynamic and interconnected, in keeping with
today’s cultural industries. Our environment is increasingly
interdisciplinary, whilst comprising strong and distinctive subject
areas. As a new colleague you will contribute to part of an expanding
portfolio, from short courses to doctoral study, in Dance, Digital Media
Arts, Film, Music, Sound Recording and Theatre. The School of Arts
includes the Guildford School of Acting (GSA) - a leading international
conservatoire - and the Lewis Elton Gallery. Our learning environment is
suited to our special mix of scholarship, academic research and
high-level arts practice; our facilities include performance venues,
workshops, rehearsal and practice rooms, laboratories and
post-production suites.
The Associate Dean (Research) post may have an academic background
belonging to any discipline relevant to the Faculty of Arts and Human
Sciences. Three of the Arts posts advertised (Reader/Professor, Senior
Lecturer and Lecturer) specifically address digital media arts and film,
a new growth area within the School. We also seek a Senior Lecturer in
Arts Management/Leadership; a Lecturer in Performing Arts (this post
holder will lead our new MA Contemporary Theatre Making); and a Senior
Lecturer with a specialism in any of the School’s areas to lead our
Learning & Teaching development. In all cases, successful candidates
will have research expertise in one or more relevant fields, and outputs
of international excellence.
