New thematic section from Culture Unbound: "Shanghai Modern: The Future in =
Microcosm?"

Culture Unbound: Journal of Current Cultural Research has published a new t=
hematic section entitled "Shanghai Modern: The Future in Microcosm?" It is =
edited by Justin O'Connor and Xin Gu and consist of ten articles that give =
a wide range of perspectives on Shanghai's role as a cultural and commercia=
l centre in the past and present. The global city of Shanghai is taken as a=
starting point to explore issues of urban space, social and political chan=
ge, modernity and the Chinese transition in the 20th and 21st century.
