Please find below details on two openings in the Communication Studies department at Clemson University. We are open to and interested in any cultural scholars focusing on the interest areas described below (technology, health, sports, organizations). The Department of Communication Studies at Clemson University invites applications for up to two tenure-track positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to begin August 15, 2012. Applicants might have research agendas in one or more of the following areas: (a) organizational and/or strategic communication; (b) health communication; (c) communication and technology; (d) sports communication. Methodological specialization is open; however, candidates must be able to teach undergraduate courses in communication theory and research methods. Teaching at the graduate level is possible.
Requirements for the position include: a Ph.D. (in hand by August 2012) in Communication or a closely related field, a record of conference presentations and/or peer-reviewed publications that
suggests future success in scholarly research, a record of excellent teaching, and the ability to teach courses that contribute to the undergraduate and graduate curriculum. In addition, where appropriate, the candidate will be expected to collaborate with colleagues to advance the research mission of Clemson University through pursuit of external funding. Candidates for appointment at the Associate Professor rank should possess a record of, or potential for, external
funding.
Our department offers a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and a Master’s degree in Communication, Technology and Society. Additionally, the department participates in an interdisciplinary doctoral program, Rhetorics, Communication and Information Design. Candidates should submit a cover letter detailing their qualifications for the position, a current vita, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and at least one scholarly writing sample. Applications must also
