The International Conference *McLuhan Galaxy Barcelona 2011 “Understanding Media, Today”* is going to take place in Barcelona 2011 May 23-25 to celebrate the birth centenary of the Canadian thinker Marshall McLuhan. The event is organised by Faculty of Communication, University Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and Interdisciplinary Internet Institute (IN3), Universitat Oberta de Catalunya / Open University of Catalonia, with the collaboration of CCCB-Lab, Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona.

McLuhan Galaxy Barcelona 2011 will include the following conferences: Manuel Castells (IN3/UOC), Paul Levinson (Fordham University, NYC), Derrick de Kerckhove (IN3/UOC), Ursula Heise (Stanford University), Robert K. Logan (University of Toronto), Javier Díaz Noci (UPF), Dominique Scheffel-Dunand (University of Toronto) and Carlos A. Scolari (UPF). Prestigious researchers like Javier Echeverría (Universidad del País Vasco), Alejandro Piscitelli (Universidad de Buenos Aires), *Janine Marchessault (York University) and Bruce Powe (York University)* will participate in the round tables. McLuhan Galaxy Barcelona 2011 will be held in the 22@ Barcelona, Innovation District, either in the Campus of Communication (UPF), in the IN3/UOC’s Mediatic building or in the CCCB. The activities developed in the latter will be open to public and simultaneous translation will be available.
