The“International League of Higher Education in Media and Communication” (MLeague)initiated and chaired byCommunication University of China (CUC)would like to invite to you attend our annual international academic symposium co-orgnized together with Uppsalauniversity(the partneruniversityof MLeague), in Uppsala,Sweden, October 6-7 2011.

The symposium is planned, organized and co-chaired by MLeague and Uppsala University (UU), hosted by Department of Informatics and Media and Department of Linguistics and Philology, Uppsala University.

As the alliance of, by now, 45 well-known universities in media and communication from 18 countries and areas as its members, MLeague with the mission of constructing a cooperation&  exchanging platform. among the world’s top universities in media and communication and try to promote the close relationship and carry out multilateral or bilateral cooperation in exchange of scholars and students, exchange of material and data, research and studies. By in-depth cooperation and communication, they were to contribute to the achievement of cultivation of media talents and knowledge diffusion, the internationalization of universities, and the overall development of higher education in media and communication. Carry on its "Opening-up and International Cordination" policy, MLeague secretariat would like to explore the possibilities of co-organizing annual academic projects as well as serials ofeventswith all our MLeague member universities,like this time with Uppsala.

The symposium is open for all interested participants, but the one from thepartner universities of MLeague would be invited at a reduced fee.


Theme/Panel/Working Language
The theme of the symposium is “Global Media Worlds and China” and it is divided in three aspects:

- Global Media worlds entering China – global and international media in China
- Media worlds of China – the transforming media landscape of China
- China entering global media worlds – Chinese media going international and
 global

Participants are free to address any relevant issues inside of these broad frames (for example cultural industries, innovation, media economy, digital media, media convergence, governance, digital media cultures, social media, new media ethics, immaterial rights, privacy, etc.).

At the symposium all participating MLeague universities will be guaranteed one presentation – in the common sessions or in a parallel session. Selected papers will be published by Uppsala University and Communication University of China or an international academic publisher in an edited volume and/or periodical. The symposium language is English. All papers and presentations at the symposium should be in English.

Deadline for abstract            1 May 2011 (about300 words)
Conference registration         1 May 2011
Notification of acceptance     30 June 2011
Delivery of paper                  15 September 2011

Conference fee&  Accommodation
The symposium is open for all interested participants, but the one from thepartner universities of MLeague would be invited at a reduced fee.

The organizing committee of MLeague 2011 symposium will guarantee 40 places at the symposium without any conference fee for members of the MLeague. The organizer will also provide 3 days of accommodation for free for max 40MLeague participants, whose research is considered pivotal for the high quality academic presentation and publication in Englishin this international symposium.
Non-members or additional participants from MLeague universities pay their own hotelcostsand 100Euro conferencefee (Included is participation and proceedings, refreshment, lunch, buffet and conference dinner). Rooms have been reserved for 80 participants.

Travel costs
The traveling expenses will be paid for by the participants themselves.

Location and travel
Uppsalais located in Sweden, close to Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. Uppsala is also very close to Arlanda, the main international airport in Sweden. From Arlanda you go by train, bus or taxi and you can reach Uppsala in half an hour.
