Job
Description: The New School seeks to fill a three-year renewable
term faculty position in its Politics and Advocacy program.
This
position is housed in Milano, The New School for Management and
Urban
Policy, which is currently integrating with the University’s
Graduate
Program in International Affairs.
The focus of this position is on teaching advanced professional
skills
in issue- and organization-centered advocacy in a political
environment.
The position includes collaborating with the Center for New York
City
Affairs, an applied policy research institute housed within the
school,
and offering courses in other degree programs in the school and
division. Responsibilities include teaching both undergraduate and
graduate courses, advising students, and providing intellectual
leadership for the program.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of the
inter-connectedness of the for-profit, nonprofit, and public
sectors.
The areas of research in which we are interested include: State and
local politics and government; lobbying and government relations;
development and management of electoral and/or issue campaigns; the
politics of policy implementation; media and public opinion; citizen
or
labor organizing; and/or issue advocacy. We seek a pool of
candidates
experienced in the possibilities and complexities of advocacy in a
diverse democracy.

Qualifications: Applicants should hold either a Ph.D. in a relevant
field or equivalent professional experience in politics or
