To be qualified to apply for a doctoral studentship, an applicant must have:

1. taken a qualification at Master's level,

2. completed courses equivalent to 240 higher education credits, of which a minimum of 60 credits must be at Master's level, or

3. in some other way, in Sweden or abroad, have acquired largely equivalent qualifications (general entry requirements).

If there are extenuating circumstances, the head of department at Örebro University may grant exemption from the general entry requirements. Anyone wishing to be granted such an exemption must state this, with reasons, in their application.

Please note that anyone who was considered to fulfil the general entry requirements for doctoral studies prior to 1 July 2007 is still considered qualified for doctoral studies, but only until the end of June 2015.

The application must comprise three copies of the following documents:
* A completed application form: "Anmälan/beslut om antagning till utbildning på forskarnivå at Örebro University". The form can be downloaded from: <http://www.oru.se/>http://www.oru.se/. * Official transcript or equivalent proof that you fulfil the general and specific entry requirements
   * CV with details of prior studies, employment and assignments
* Degree project at Bachelor's and Master's level in the subject for which you are applying, or equivalent. If these are not written in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish or English, a summary of 5-6 pages (approx 14 000 characters) must be enclosed in addition to an original copy of the degree project. * A research plan/proposal for the doctoral thesis, maximum 5 pages. This plan should include formulation of the research problem(s), materials, methods, limitations and research background, as well as a time schedule for the planned work. * Publications, maximum 3 printed works. Indicate which of these works you wish to be given primary consideration in the assessment of your application.
   * Contact details of two referees.
