ASIA MEDIA SUMMIT TO EXAMINE MEDIA CONCENTRATION, INFORMATION SOCIETY

Broadcasters from around the world will be discussing the growing problem of
media concentration in Asia and the role of media in the Information Society
at the Asia Media Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 9 to 11 May 2005.

The conference will also examine media and freedom of expression in the
context of the war on terrorism and the ethics of conflict coverage.
Workshops will include a session on citizens' media

Organised by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development and
supported by various UN agencies, the conference is expected to bring
together 300 decision makers, media professionals, scholars, and
stakeholders of news and programming from Asia, Pacific, Europe, North
America, Middle East and Africa.
