Tue Jun 03 15:50:12 GMT 2003

Open Meeting organised by the Campaign for Press and Broadcasting Freedom

l Biased news -
do we want it here?

The Independent Television Commission (ITC) is investigating complaints
from viewers about the lack of impartiality by Rupert Murdoch's Fox News.
The 'due impartiality' rule requires that the news is balanced and
independent. Failure to comply can result ultimately in the station being
taken off the air. However, some industry voices in Britain think it's time
the rule was relaxed. Come and hear the arguments and join in the debate.

Speakers: Richard Tait (Former editor in chief at ITN)

Chris Shaw (Controller of news and current affairs at
Channel 5)

Chair: Julian Petley (Chair CPBF)

Monday 23 June 6.30pm
NUJ HQ, 308, Gray's Inn Road, Kings Cross,
London WC1. (Nearest tube Kings Cross/Thames Link)

Admission free - collection for the CPBF.
