[Commlist] New book: Perspectivas globales sobre género y sexualidades en los medios

Estamos muy felices de compartir la publicación de *Perspectivas 
globales sobre género y sexualidades en los medios*, publicado por Peter 
Lang y disponible íntegramente en acceso abierto.

Este libro significa mucho para nosotras. Reúne 27 capítulos y 54 
personas investigadoras de Brasil, Croacia, España, Estados Unidos, 
Italia, Portugal, Singapur y Estados Unidos. Sus cinco secciones abordan 
las representaciones de las mujeres y las perspectivas feministas; las 
narrativas LGBTIQ+; la misoginia, la LGBTIQ+fobia y los discursos de 
odio; los métodos de investigación sobre género y sexualidades; y la 
educación y alfabetización mediática.

Era fundamental que este libro se publicara en español. Existe una 
enorme comunidad transnacional, que abarca a millones de personas, que 
estudia, enseña, investiga y debate en este idioma. Esa comunidad 
necesita más espacios y más literatura científica para pensar y discutir 
en su lengua materna.

También quisimos que el libro fuera de acceso abierto, para que 
estudiantes, docentes, personas investigadoras, profesionales y 
cualquier persona interesada puedan acceder a él sin barreras.

El libro nació, además, de una comunidad: la del C/ongreso Internacional 
sobre Medios, Género y Sexualidades/, cuya primera edición celebramos en 
Benasque en 2023. Y la comunidad sigue creciendo: *ya estamos 
organizando la tercera edición del Congreso, que celebraremos en 2027*.

Nuestro agradecimiento a todas las personas que confiaron en este 
proyecto y contribuyeron a hacerlo posible.

Esperamos que el libro viaje lejos, encuentre lectores, abra 
conversaciones y contribuya a fortalecer la investigación sobre medios, 
género y sexualidades en español.

We are very happy to share the publication of Perspectivas globales 
sobre género y sexualidades en los medios, published by Peter Lang and 
now fully available open access.

This book means a great deal to us. It brings together 27 chapters and 
54 researchers from Brazil, Croatia, Italy, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, 
and the United States. Its five sections address representations of 
women and feminist perspectives; LGBTIQ+ narratives; misogyny, 
LGBTIQ+phobia, and hate speech; research methods for the study of gender 
and sexualities; and education and media literacy.

It was essential to us that this book be published in Spanish. There is 
a vast transnational community, encompassing millions of people, who 
study, teach, research, and debate in Spanish. This community needs more 
spaces and more scholarly literature to think about and discuss these 
issues in Spanish.

We also wanted the book to be open access, so that students, educators, 
researchers, professionals, and anyone interested in these topics can 
access it without barriers.

The book also grew out of a community: the International Congress on 
Media, Gender and Sexualities, whose first edition we held in Benasque 
in 2023. And the community continues to grow: we are already organizing 
the third edition of the Congress, which will take place in 2027.

Our deepest thanks to everyone who trusted this project and helped make 
it possible.

We hope the book travels widely, finds its readers, opens new 
conversations, and helps strengthen research on media, gender, and 
sexualities in Spanish.
