[Commlist] Academic Filmmaking in the New Humanities: publication of two special issues
Tue Sep 24 07:34:17 GMT 2024
The co-editors are delighted to announce the publication of two special
issues of the open access journal /Academic Quarter /(AQ)
<https://journals.aau.dk/index.php/ak/issue/archive> devoted to
*Academic Filmmaking in the New Humanities.*
The first special issue (AQ27)
<https://journals.aau.dk/index.php/ak/issue/view/522> contains eleven
prose articles (four co-authored).
The second special issue (AQ28)
<https://journals.aau.dk/index.php/ak/issue/view/523> contains ten video
essays (some composed of multiple individual videos), and guiding texts
(five co-authored).
The special issuesare intended to evidence and interrogate the
possibilities of filmmaking as research method, medium of scholarly
communication and as a distinct mode of thinking in the academy.
We bring together practitioners and scholars of filmmaking research,
academic film and videographic criticism from across a range of
disciplines to consider the affordances and challenges of filmmaking as
means and medium of investigation and communication. AQ28 has also been
conceived to debate and to demonstrate how the video essay can work as a
scholarly form.
