The department of Media Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand,
in Johannesburg, South Africa, is recruiting a lecturer and senior
lecturer to begin around the middle of 2023. Come join a busy, dynamic

*Lecturer in Media Studies*
The Department of Media Studies is seeking to make an appointment at the
rank of Lecturer to start in June 2023.

*Requirements*: Candidates should hold a PhD in media and communication
studies or a related discipline, have an appropriate publication record
and have expert knowledge in one or more of the fields related to
consumer culture, African media and democracy, decolonial studies,
media/journalism culture and practice, digital technology ordatascience.
Teaching experience is essential, while experience of supervision and of
curriculum and teaching innovation is desirable.
*Responsibilities*: The successful candidate will be required to offer
wide-ranging teaching across all years of study; to implement
communicative, student-centred methodologies to facilitate
students’development and growth; to supervise postgraduate students at
Honours and MA level, with PhD students being added in time; to be
research active in areas related to the discipline; to carry
out administrative duties for the department; and to take part in the
intellectual and public life of the university.Applications are
