Summary of Job Duties:

The Department of Communication in the Fulbright College of Arts and 
Sciences at the University of Arkansas, invites applications for a 
tenure-track assistant professor in Communication to start in August 
2022. We seek applicants with a rhetorical and/or cultural studies 
research agenda in the area of popular culture. This is a standard 
nine-month faculty appointment.

Duties will include establishing and maintaining an active and 
independent research program, developing classes and teaching 
effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and providing 
service to the department, the university, and the profession

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job 
duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious 
working relationships with others.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Communication or related field conferred by the start of employment

Evidence of active research program

Demonstrated competency in the classroom

Preferred Qualifications:

Rhetorical and/or cultural studies research agenda in the area of 
popular culture

Research commensurate with institutions holding the highest Carnegie 
classification

Ability to engage in interdisciplinary research

Potential for externally funded research

Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations
