University of Notre Dame Job in Critical Race Studies and Black Cinema

      The Department of Film, TV and Theatre (FTT) and the Initiative on
      Race and Resilience (IRR) at the University of Notre Dame are
      seeking a candidate for a joint appointment as tenure-track
      assistant professor in critical race studies and Black film with a
      starting date of August 2022.

      Position Description

      Candidates must specialize in critical race studies and Black
      cinema, either as a theorist or historian.  Candidates will be
      expected to maintain a tenurable book-based research profile and
      teach a 2-2 load consisting of a mixture of electives in their
      areas of research and at least two of the required courses in the
      film concentration. Secondary interests in global majority cinemas
      or sports media are welcome but not required.  FTT will be the
      tenure home for the candidate. The successful candidate will be an
      active participant in the IRR and its relationship with other
      units in the College of Arts and Letters.

      Qualifications

      Candidates must have a PhD in film or a relevant field. Candidate
      should have refereed publications in competitive academic journals
      and/or presses and some teaching experience.

      related to teaching critical race studies and Black cinema and
      courses similar to FTT’s required courses;

      ohow they envision themselves enhancing FTT’s curriculum;

      oand their relevant experience and ability to contribute to the IRR.

      The committee will continue to vet applications until the position
