[Commlist] PhD Study at BGSU

Sun Dec 23 11:57:19 GMT 2018

The School of Media & Communication at Bowling Green State University in Ohio is currently accepting applications for Fall 2019 admission to our PhD program. The PhD program allows for students to emphasize in one of the following areas of emphasis: Global Communication & Social Change, Interpersonal Communication, and Media Audiences & Processes. Students who take part in the PhD program will work along world-class research faculty in the recently renovated Kuhlin Center. In addition to the excellent facilities and areas of emphasis, we offer graduate assistantships to a select number of incoming students each year. Our GA assignments allow for PhD students to gain valuable experience in the classroom, teaching a variety of courses and assisting faculty in the classroom. First year GAs primarily teach the public speaking course. As they grow and develop they may advance to teach or assist other courses, like Communication Theory or Media Production. The assistantships entail scholarships that cover the instructional fees, as well as a stipend that is quite competitive given that the cost of living is 15% below the national average.

Prospective students interested in admission and funding should submit their applications by January 15. For more information about the program, areas of emphasis, and application process, please see our website:
