Salary is £33,199 to £38,460 (Grade 7) for a Lecturer
Salary is £39,609 to £50,132 (Grade 8) for a Senior Lecturer

The School of Performance and Media Production is a creative and vibrant
community providing exciting opportunities for students to explore their
subject and achieve their potential. We are seeking a motivated,
experienced professional in Journalism, with HE knowledge and industry
practice, to come and join our Media Production team.
Our BJTC-accredited Journalism pathway is situated within a
collaborative programme suite alongside Film & TV and Media Production.
We have a longstanding reputation in production and our film graduates
include BAFTA and Royal Television Society award winners, and have
worked on Oscar-nominated films, including Carol (2015). Our Journalism
students continue to benefit from this production expertise and engage
with a range of international, national and local developments at the
leading edge of the latest industry developments across all platforms
including mobile, digital, print, TV and radio. Students work with a
growing range of partner organisations including media and journalism
professionals from Google News Labs, YorkMix, BBC Radio York, Campus
Life, Aesthetica Magazine and the Press Association.
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to play a key role
in the teaching, learning, and ongoing academic development of
Journalism as well as contributing more widely across our Media
Production suite, at undergraduate level and with the potential to
supervise PG research students. The successful applicant will have a
track record of teaching, research and industry practice. We welcome
applicants with specialisms in the following areas:
* Magazine Production
* Data Journalism
* Mobile Journalism
* TV and/or radio news
* News & Features (Online)
If you enjoy supporting students in discovering new skills and
knowledge, and want to help them develop as critical practitioners with
a tool-kit to help them contribute to the media landscape of the future,
then we want to hear from you.
You will have:
* Academic qualification equating to a first degree
* Have or be nearing completion of a higher degree (Masters or PhD)
or equivalent relevant professional qualification / experience
* Significant and successful professional experience in media
production
* Successful, relevant teaching experience taking account of
developments in learning and teaching
