Job Overview:
The Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education (ACE) is offering
a rather unique opportunity to be part of a leadership team launching
and developing a significant new postgraduate award in Virtual Reality
[VR], Extended Realities [XR] and immersive storytelling based in the
School of Film and Journalism.
ACE has a strong reputation for highly successful practice based,
professionally-focussed MA programmes, run in conjunction with
outstanding partners, such as the BBC, Aardman Animations and the
Bristol VR Lab.
We are looking for a leading creative media practitioner/academic with
experience in virtual/augmented/extended reality content and workflow,
impressive research and practice credentials, and considerable
experience of postgraduate delivery.
You will provide vision for the programme, bringing to life the debates
and discourses around virtual reality, mixed reality and extended
storytelling and inspire our students to refine and target their image
making potential. You will have excellent networks to help our students
explore a range of professional environments and develop successful
careers. This multidisciplinary MA will contribute to growing a new
generation of storytellers, experience designers, and leading content
creators in this emerging field.
This post is based at our City Campus in Bristol city centre which
comprises of Bower Ashton Studios, Arnolfini, Spike Island and Watershed
and is home to UWE Bristol's creative and cultural subjects. Through a
combination of University sites and partnerships with creative and
cultural organisations in the city, we have developed a network of
cultural and creative spaces. These enable our students and staff to
develop their professional practice in inspiring learning environments
as well as provide opportunities for creative collaboration and networking.
