The Centre for Transforming  Sexuality and Gender at the University of Brighton is pleased to invite applications for Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) PhD Studentship awards within and across the following research areas:

•Human Geography

•Media Studies

•Social Media

•Cultural Studies and Popular Culture

•Drama and Sexualities

•Early Modern Sexuality and Gender

•Literature and Film

•Activism

•Sexualities, Health & Mental Health

•Sexual Practices, Identities and Cultures

•Health Inequalities

•Youth Gender Cultures

The Centre for Transforming  Sexuality and Gender at the University of Brighton homes internationally recognised scholars who work in and across a wide range of fields intersecting with the study of genders and sexualities, across  the Arts & Humanities and the Social Sciences.

We are inviting prospective doctoral students who are interested in applying for studentships either through the AHRC Techne Scheme or ESRC South Coast programme, *with a focus on innovative and interdisciplinary Gender and Sexualities research.*

The Centre for Transforming Sexuality and Gender brings together researchers from across the university who are working on themes related to sexuality, gender and social change with a core focus on producing research with community partners that impacts on policy and practice.
The centre incorporates the following key research themes:
•LGBTQ Lives Research
•Sex, Sexuality and Health
•Digital Sexualities
•Precarious Genders

We are committed to cutting edge research and community  engagement. Many of our researchers have a shared commitment to feminist, post-structuralist  and queer theoretical approaches and use a variety of methodologies that are participatory, visual and creative.

PhD students will have access to the Cluster’s own methodological space, The Creative Methods Lab, brand new and beautifully designed facilities where researchers meet to develop and conduct research, using state-of the-art visual and audio recording equipment.

Applicants need to meet AHRC / ESRC eligibility criteria for funding.

The internal deadline is *Friday 29 December 2017*. Please submit all documents by this deadline. You will have an opportunity to make final revisions to your application form by the final deadline in January.
