The Department of Communication in the School of Social and Policy
Studies at Tel Aviv University invites applications for a full-time,
tenure-track position, starting from October 1^st , 2018.
The School, within the Faculty of Social Sciences, is composed of four
departments: Communication, Sociology and Anthropology, Labor Studies,
and Public Policy. It combines research and teaching in a wide range of
fields within social sciences. It has a strong commitment to
multidisciplinary research and teaching, and provides opportunities for
interactions with many departments and research units on- and
off-campus. It has a rich tradition of high-level, internationally
recognized research and teaching.
The candidate must hold a PhD degree in Communication or related areas,
with an excellent research and publication record. Having done a
post-doctorate is desirable.
The position requires:
1). conducting high-quality research projects and publishing in top
peer-review journals in the relevant fields
2). supervising MA and PhD students
3). teaching BA, MA and PhD courses and seminars in Hebrew (the language
of instruction at Tel Aviv University is Hebrew, although English is
acceptable for a short initial period).
4). competing for grants from local and international institutions
Screening and assessment of candidates will be based on academic
excellence, teaching performance, and the relevance of their research
and teaching fields to the school and to the Department of
Communication. The rank of the applicants will be determined based on
their achievements.
Preference will be given to applicants specializing in Internet
research, more particularly one or several of the following fields:
regulation, ethical issues, gender, and psychological aspects. Qualified
applicants should submit:
-a complete CV and list of publications
-a scientific biography statement of research achievements and interests
(2-3 pages)
-a list of potential courses to be taught
-a PDF version of a sample of three papers (published or accepted for
publication)
-names and contact details (including full address, phone number, and
email address) of three academic referees (one recommendation letter may
be sent by the referee directly to the head of the selection committee).
-teaching evaluations (if available)
