Tue Jun 20 08:20:42 GMT 2017
For vacancy Full Professorship for Science Communication - see below
++++++
We have unfortunately lost our longtime Lecturer for "Communication
Management". As you can see from the call >> http://bit.ly/SCR-17-6 <<
we are looking for a colleague with at least five years of work
experience (preferably ten years or more) in managing a science /
innovation communication department in industry and/or the academy.
The module, which is to be taught at least in winter 2017 and summer
2018, is officially called "Corporate Communication Management,
Governance and Controlling". You will be expected to address the
increasingly wide spectrum of management tasks, from internal
communication and knowledge repositories to planning and evaluating
exhibitions and events, as well as corporate publishing, branding, and
fund-raising, controlling and project evaluation.
The course comprises of 60 mainly seminaristic contact units à 45
minutes, which may be taught in blocks.
Rhine-Waal is Germany's first fully international university. All of the
degree programmes in our faculty are in English. 80% of our students are
international. This diversity also guides our approach in research and
teaching: being comparative about the different systems of science,
media, policy. Regarding the lectureship in question, the module is
expected to juxtapose the conditions and practises in different systems
and cultural settings around the world. By completing the module,
students shall also be prepared for staffing and outsourcing issues,
challenges with leadership and group dynamics in communication departments.
Applications by 23rd June 2017 to our faculty management (see the call).
Our campus is located in the heart of Europe, right on the border
between The Netherlands and Germany, half-way between Amsterdam and
Cologne, or Brussels and Munster, at the foot of Cleves castle.
You may also be interested in our calls for a Full Professorship
(http://bit.ly/SCR-17-7) in Science Communication, and a part-time
Research Associate (http://bit.ly/SCR-17-5e) position in project
management. Two more vacancies will go online by the end of the month,
both full-time positions, one is a mixture of applied research and
practise, the other one about communication management.
It should be okay to send a digital application in advance if this is
necessary to meet the deadline, but please clarify with HR first,
(Nicole.Horn /at/ hsrw.eu).

There are five days left to apply for the second Science Communication
Full Professorship in our university, i.e. my future colleague to join
me in coordinating our research and teaching activities.
This is a lifetime-tenure Full Professorship with a comparatively high
amount of teaching to start off (18 hours), hence a position for
researchers who are also dedicated in working directly with students. We
believe in research-led teaching and have the privilege to work with our
students in small groups on a brand new campus.
Rhine-Waal is Germany's first fully international university. All of the
degree programmes in our faculty are in English. 80% of our students are
international. For the time being, we have the great privilege to offer
our courses without asking for tuition-fees, which enables young people
from meanwhile more than a hundred different countries to study with us.
This diversity also guides our approach in research and teaching: being
comparative regarding the different systems of science, media, policy, etc.
I am aware that people on this mailing list have already applied last
year for this position, and I am most grateful for the exciting exchange
we had with so many committed colleagues from almost all continents.
Allow me to explain what seems to have been the challenge in finding the
right fit for this partiposition. The future professor is expected to
have both the usual standing in social science scholarship and
substantial practical experience in science communication.
If you have questions about the official call >> http://bit.ly/SCR-17-7
<< please don't hesitate to ask.
