[ecrea] Lecturer in the History of New Social Movements / Alternative Cultures

Sun Jan 15 01:41:47 GMT 2017

The Department of History at Lancaster University is seeking to appoint a
lecturer whose research and teaching is on the development of new social
movements and/or alternative cultures (broadly understood) from the
mid-twentieth century to the present day.

We are particularly interested in candidates who explore this subject from
a transnational perspective. The Department welcomes applications from
scholars whose interests might include: environmental movements; women’s
movements; student or youth movements; anti-war movements; gay liberation
movements; civil rights movements (including decolonisation); alternative
spiritualities and new religious movements; counter-Culture’ movements
(music, fashion, drugs, etc).

We particularly welcome applications from candidates who take an
inter-disciplinary approach to their research and teaching. Teaching
interests may focus on any part of the world or be global in character.
