Summary:
The Mass Communications Department at Emory & Henry College invites
applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of mass
communications, focused on broadcast and digital media production and
media studies.
Expectations/Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will have an interdisciplinary focus that can
encompass multiple topics in digital communication and technology,
experience teaching in undergraduate studio, field and classroom
environments, and be capable of providing instruction in the program's
undergraduate media production streams, with an emphasis on broadcast
studio video production. Special consideration will be made for
candidates with specialization in studio, broadcast and/or electronic
video; computer-mediated communication; multimedia; digital
storytelling; and critical media studies.
The Mass Communications Department at Emory & Henry College teaches a
broad, interdisciplinary, journalism-based curriculum which boasts
award-winning programming, graduates and faculty. The department
produces a weekly television program and works closely with the student
newspaper and the College's 9,000-watt FM radio station. Faculty members
in the department teach a broad range of courses in a 3-3 load and
advise student media. Participation in the General Education curriculum
is required.
Minimum qualifications:
Ph.D. in related academic field required. ABD candidates with
significant progress will be considered. The ideal candidate will have
both teaching and professional experience. Record/promise of successful
scholarship is expected.
