Butler University in Indianapolis is hiring for two positions. The first is for an assistant professor of Journalism/professional practice faculty member, and the second is for an assistant/associate professor of Journalism and Sports Media. The Eugene S. Pulliam School of Journalism in the College of Communication at Butler University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor (preferred) or a professional practice faculty member in Journalism, beginning Fall 2017. The successful candidate will teach introductory to advanced news writing and reporting classes across print, online and mobile/social platforms as well as in the area of the candidate’s specialty. This candidate will have the opportunity to make a contribution to the continuous development of our innovative curriculum. The faculty member in this position will advise Butler University’s award-winning student newspaper, The Butler Collegian.

For the tenure-track position, a terminal degree in the field of Journalism is required. The teaching load will be 6 credit hours per semester as well as advising The Collegian. This position requires an active research program. For the professional practice faculty member position, a master’s degree in the field as well as substantial professional experience are required. The teaching load will be 9 credit hours per semester as well as advising The Collegian.
