We wish to appoint a Professor of Creative Industries to be based in the Art and Design Research Centre and work across the Faculty of Arts, Design and Media and the wider university. You will join a team of senior research leaders to help develop our vibrant research culture. We share a collective ambition to sustain internationally recognised research and support emergent researchers to build on their professional expertise to develop distinctive, often practice-based, work. You will coordinate and help focus the work of a largar group of research-active staff who work on projects related to the arts, culture and the creative industries and build an expert knowledge base for our enterprise and research impact activities. You will also take a key role in leading our efforts to increase external funding applications in the Art and Design Research Centre.

The Faculty of Arts, Design and Media has a strong research environment built on four research centres for art and design, English, media and cultural studies, and music and performing arts. An average of 58% of the faculty’s research was rated as internationally excellent or better in the recent REF assessment.

You will also develop your own internationally excellent research and produce applications for externally-funded research projects. You will work as part of a team to attract and supervise high calibre doctoral students, and may undertake some postgraduate and undergraduate teaching.

You will hold a PhD and have an outstanding track record of academic leadership, research and publication or performance. You will be a strategic thinker, an able communicator and collaborator and a leading specialist in an area of creative industries research. You will have secured research funding from external sources and supervised students to completion.

The title of professor will be available for a suitably qualified successful candidate. Candidates who wish to apply for the conferment of a Professorship must clearly indicate this in their application and comply with the University procedures of conferment. The procedure is available here http://jobs.bcu.ac.uk/022015-59
