**Digital Cultures Research Centre/UWE - PhD Scholarship**
The Digital Cultures Research Centre <http://www.dcrc.org.uk> (DCRC) at
the University of the West of England in Bristol is recruiting a new
fully-funded PhD student to start in January 2013.
We are looking for an excellent PhD candidate in one of the research
theme areas of *Play, Collaborative Media, Pervasive Media and the
Attention Economy*. The DCRC also has a number of associated and
emergent themes so that candidates are strongly urged to read the DCRC
Blog <http://www.dcrc.org.uk/blog> and the profiles of staff
<http://www.dcrc.org.uk/people/all> in our network to ensure that their
topic will contribute to our research community. The Digital Cultures
Research Centre works across critical, creative and applied modes of
research and would prefer candidates who embrace at least two of these
approaches.
The scholarship is available from *1 January 2013* and consists of an
annual stipend of *£13,590* subject to satisfactory progress. In
addition, full-time tuition fees will be covered for 3 years and the
writing-up fee will be covered in the 4^th year.
Closing date for applications is *Wednesday 31 October*

*Eligibility criteria*
Applicants must have a good honours degree (2.1 or equivalent). The
Digital Cultures Research Centre would like to hear from applicants who
are attracted to working in a collaborative knowledge exchange context.
The student is expected to be resident in the region and to contribute
to the day to day operations of the DCRC by co-ordinating and marketing
the Centre's post-graduate network and events.
Previous candidates need not apply.
