[Commlist] Transformations Journal: Call for Submissions 2026

Mon Jun 15 20:24:22 GMT 2026

This is a call for submissions to the newly relaunched and multimodal Transformations Journal, requesting scholarly and artistic work in media, culture, and technology.

Call for Submissions: Transformations Journal Volume 24, Issue 1. <https://transformationsjournal.org/index.php/transformations/announcement/view/69>

*Liquid Situations*

*Keywords and phrases: *conservation, liquidation, untouchability and practice, the destruction of the future and the future of destruction.

“Some people pass things down to posterity by making them untouchable and thus conserving them; others pass on situations by making them practicable and thus liquidating them.”
- Walter Benjamin, The Destructive Character (1931)

We are currently accepting submissions of scholarly and creative work for Volume 24, Issue 1 of Transformations Journal <https://transformationsjournal.org/index.php/transformations/index>. In this call, we ask: how is the future made? How does the untouchable become practicable? What is destroyed in conservation, and what is preserved through destruction? Rather than treating creative processes as legacies to maintain, how can practice reopen them as situations—conditions to be engaged with and reworked?

We seek to publish art and writing that offer critical perspectives on media, culture, and technology and that are attentive to how these forces shape and are shaped by social relations, collective practices, and shared forms of knowledge. We welcome contributions that approach media and culture not only as fixed forms of analysis but as shifting terrains whose arrangements and entanglements remain open to transformation. Submissions may be informed by philosophy, aesthetics, and emergent transdisciplinary approaches.

Scholarly articles and creative expositions are refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. We are also seeking short reports on new work, including books, art, and events. More information for each section’s submission guidelines can be found here <https://transformationsjournal.org/index.php/transformations/about/submissions>.

*This call will be open until August 31, 2026. No payment from the authors is required.*
