7th Conference of the series "Knowledge – Communication – Action.
Forecasting the Future: Between Media, Technology and Society (15–16
October 2026), Cracow, Poland, Institute of Journalism, Media and Social
Communication at Jagiellonian University
We cordially invite you to participate in the 7th Conference of the
series "Knowledge – Communication – Action. Forecasting the Future:
Between Media, Technology and Society",which will take place on 15–16
October 2026 at the Institute of Journalism, Media and Social
Communication of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.
The leading theme of this year’s conference is the future, understood as
a catalogue of potential scenarios, tensions, and alternative
trajectories of social development. The unknown tomorrow – shaped by
past and present crises in politics, health, the economy, and technology
– today calls for scholarly reflection on the role of media and
communication, both in the present and in the future. Forecasting the
directions of social change has become particularly difficult. We live
in a reality marked by tensions, permanent disruptions, acceleration,
and discontinuity, in which previously familiar explanatory models are
losing their relevance. We are experiencing changes that signal the end
of what is known and familiar, initiating the process of constructing
new frameworks for a future order. Media and communication scholars are
thus confronted with a fundamental epistemic challenge: how can
phenomena in a state of emergence be adequately described and forecast?
Registration via the online form is now open and will remain available
until 12 July 2026.
Panel proposals should be submitted by 14 June 2026 via e-mail
to: (idmiksuj /at/ uj.edu.pl).
Following panel submission, each participant is required to register
individually through the online form.
