Introduction
In an era marked by globalization, climate change, and political
instability, human mobility—including migration, travel, and
displacement—has emerged as a defining feature of public life. At the
same time, digital technologies have transformed how health information
is produced, circulated, and received. This book examines the
intersection of digital communication, human mobility, and public health
by focusing on narrative, trust, and identity. It welcomes
interdisciplinary research that investigates how digital platforms
empower or marginalize mobile populations, influence trust in
institutions, and shape health-related identities. The aim is to
critically explore the opportunities and challenges that digital
technologies present in addressing public health issues among mobile and
often vulnerable populations.
Objective
The volume seeks to understand how digital tools mediate access to,
interpretation of, and engagement with health information across various
socio-cultural and political contexts. It aims to advance theoretical
frameworks and practical strategies for digital health communication in
contexts of mobility and transience. Contributions from communication
studies, public health, migration studies, sociology, and digital
humanities are particularly welcome.
Target Audience
This book targets scholars and graduate students in communication,
media, public health, sociology, and migration studies, as well as
policymakers, NGOs, public health practitioners, and professionals
involved in health communication, digital inclusion, and humanitarian
response.
