CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: From Journalism’s Roots to the AI Frontier: Media
and Politics in the New Era
30th Annual International Conference on Information Technology and
Journalism (ITJ)
and IPSA RC10 and RC22 supported workshop:
LOCATION: Interuniversity Centre Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik, Croatia
DATES: Sept 15th– Sept 18th, 2025
"From Journalism’s Roots to the AI Frontier: Media and Politics in the
New Era" is a cutting-edge scientific conference bringing together
global experts, researchers, and practitioners to explore emerging
trends in artificial intelligence applications within media and
political strategy. With the rapid advancement of AI tools in data
analysis, generative models, and interactive bots, the conference will
examine the ethical, societal, and technological implications of
integrating these tools into media channels and political campaigns. The
event will feature panels on topics such as the foundations of
journalism in an evolving media landscape, personalized political
messaging, and AI’s impact on transparency and trust in communication.
Keynote speakers include internationally acclaimed scholars and industry
professionals. In addition to the main conference, the IPSA RC10 and
RC22 Supported Workshop will provide a dedicated space for in-depth
discussions on political communication and the role of AI in shaping
democratic processes. The conference will also address pressing issues
such as misinformation, privacy protection, and regulatory challenges in
AI-driven political communication. It offers an essential platform for
those seeking to understand how AI is reshaping communication methods
and strategic decision-making on the global stage.
We invite the scientific community - researchers, professors, and PhD
students to submit papers that explore the challenges posed by virtual
communication, including but not limited to:

ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS
Abstracts should not be longer than 500 words and should include: Title,
Author and Affiliation, Main aim of the research and the research
question, Core theoretical premise of the paper, Methodology and
relevant information on data collection and analysis, Key findings or
questions that analysis will address in an ongoing or future research
IMPORTANT DEADLINES:
Abstract deadline: June 1st, 2025
Notification of acceptance: June 20th, 2025
Full paper (optional): September 1st, 2025
Full paper submission is not mandatory; however, submitted papers will
be considered for publication in the journal Media Studies

Registration and Conference Fees:
Paper presenters and co-authors: 120 Euros
Students and non-presenters: 70 Euros
The Annual International Conference on Information Technology and
Journalism (ITJ) has been organized for 30 years. The joint RC10/RC22
workshop was first launched in 2010 and has been an integral part of the
conference ever since.
