[Commlist] Call for Chapter Abstracts: Engaging the Nation: Leisure Time, Digital Content, and Nation-Building in India
Sun Dec 01 22:36:48 GMT 2024
Prerna Subramanian and Prateekshit “Kanu” Pandey are delighted to invite
submissions for an edited collection titled Engaging the Nation: Leisure
Time, Digital Content, and Nation-Building in India. This volume
explores how leisure, traditionally understood as "time-after-work," is
being reconfigured into a critical site for ideological dissemination,
political engagement, and nation-building in contemporary India.
Digital platforms, social media, and online influencers are increasingly
shaping how individuals engage with their leisure time. This collection
seeks to critically analyze these shifts, exploring their implications
for personal agency, community building, political engagement, and the
commodification of leisure.
They invite contributions addressing topics such as:
Digital Influencers and Nationalist Agendas
Leisure as Political Engagement
Commodification of Leisure Time
Nationalist Content and Community Building
Comparative Studies of Digital Leisure
Resistance and Alternative Uses of Digital Leisure
Submissions are welcome from diverse disciplines, including media
studies, digital ethnography, sociology, cultural studies, political
science, and communication. Contributions may employ both qualitative
and quantitative methods, focusing on formats like videos, memes,
podcasts, or social media posts.
Submission Guidelines:
Please submit an abstract of 300-500 words and a short bio by January
15, 2025. Full chapters will be due by September 2025.
Send your submissions and inquiries to: (digitleisureindia /at/ proton.me)
<mailto:(digitleisureindia /at/ proton.me)>
They look forward to your valuable contributions to this timely and
significant project.
