[Commlist] CFP: Futures of Chinese Cinemas conference

Fri Mar 10 09:13:05 GMT 2023

*Futures of Chinese Cinemas*

*University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), May 19 & 20, 2023*

        *Conference Description*

This conference examines the current state of Chinese film culture, production, and scholarship and its impact on world cinemas in the 21st century. Growing from two previous film conferences held at UNNC that examined Chinese cinemas ('100 Years of Chinese Film & Screen' in 2021, and 'Chinese Film Aesthetics' in 2022), this conference shifts its focus to examining the contemporary landscape of Chinese film and Chinese film scholarship, including emerging developments, movements, and other phenomena.

It will be a hybrid conference, with both in-person and online presentations. Due to the current travel situation, we anticipate that people from outside China will probably be unable to attend in-person.
