Wed Aug 10 14:01:19 GMT 2022

International Conference “Community Communication and Local Journalism in an Infodemic Scenario”

3^rd and 4^th November 2022

University of Beira Interior, Covilhã, Portugal

/// Introduction ///

This conference (#ComJor2022) has as its main objective deepen the discussions on the possibilities and challenges of community communication and local journalism, especially in the context of abundance and infodemic in digital environments.

Recent publications, events and research have demonstrated a growing interest in studies on these topics. At the same time, albeit in a timid way, academic productions highlight the importance of community communication, especially in local and regional contexts.

Understanding that there are possibilities for contact – theoretical and empirical – between the two themes, this congress intends to be a meeting point for reflections on community communication and local journalism, bringing together researchers and stimulating the production of research on these issues.

Raquel Paiva (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) will be the keynote speaker.
