Monographic Theme

The events of all kinds that shake the world, such as climate change, natural or industrial catastrophes, wars, political and social conflicts, pandemics, economic crises or forced population movements, among others, have aroused scientific interest in explaining, from different disciplines, their nature, origin, causes and consequences.

Communication research in this field has been intense, particularly to establish the role of communication in these events. We live in a communication ecosystem in which the coexistence of traditional and digital media and social networks generates new dynamics and challenges for communication and culture, significantly in terms of crisis, risk and conflict communication management.

In these extreme circumstances, research on media credibility, disinformation and fake news, freedom of expression, the public service function, social cohesion, peace values, as well as the digital divide and media education, among others, take on greater importance.

In this context, Quaderns del CAC wishes to bring together some of the contributions generated in the disciplinary field of communication in its monographic section on risk, crisis and conflict communication.

We encourage you to submit contributions on various topics, such as:

- Disinformation and Fact-Checking

- Freedom of expression, censorship and propaganda

- Ethical ethics and crisis communication

- Culture of peace and communication

- Communication in times of war

- Climate change

- Refugees, migrants and communication

- Journalism and community

You can participate from various disciplines and perspectives, among others:

- Content analysis

- Discourse analysis

- Framing studies

- Audiences and consumption

- Reception

- Institutional communication

- Organisational communication

- Political communication

- Communication strategies

- Media Literacy

We also encourage you to participate in the miscellaneous section 'Articles', dedicated to the publication of ongoing research on communication and audiovisual culture. The call for papers for this section is permanently open.

All texts must be original and unpublished and not subject to the selection procedure of another journal. They will be submitted to the double-blind peer-review process. Quaderns del CAC undertakes to inform the authors of the positive or negative result of the evaluation within a maximum of one and a half months after submission. Texts must be presented following the journal’s style guidelines, and originals in Catalan, Spanish and English are accepted.
