The Summer School will be held in a mixed, online/offline format, designed to provide a full learning experience for students attending virtually and physically alike. The school will bring together a strong international lineup of academics with a track record of excellence in experimentation and agent-based modeling (ABM) in fields as diverse as cognitive and social psychology, sociology, media studies, and psycholinguistics. The program will include courses and workshops aiming at both enhancing students’ conceptual understanding of the foundations of experimental research, and equipping them with hands-on experience in designing and executing experiments of their own.

● Elena Gorbunova, Director, Laboratory for Cognitive Psychology of
Digital Interface Users, HSE, Moscow.
An introduction to experiments with a focus on psychology, and a
workshop on online experimental software.
● Martin Lukac, LSE Fellow in Computational Social Science in the
Methodology Department at the London School of Economics.
An online workshop on simulated experiments – agent-based modeling.

● Svetlana Alexeeva, Senior Researcher at the Institute for Cognitive Studies, St.Petersburg State University.
An offline workshop on eye-tracking experiments.

● Amalia Álvarez Benjumea, Senior Research Fellow at Max Planck Institute for research on collective goods.
A virtual course on natural and field experiments in social contexts.

*Eligibility*
The program is aimed at scholars from a broad range of social and cognitive sciences who are looking to acquire knowledge and skills in experimental research. Participation requires fluency in English, the working language of the School, and a command of basic principles of quantitative social science research. We welcome academic and industry research professionals at any career stage. Applications from doctoral students will also be considered.
Please note that hands-on workshops may have individual coding
prerequisites. Participation in the (offline-only) eye tracker tutorial
requires proficiency with R,
