Journal /Athena: Philosophical Studies/ (https://www.athena.lt/home <https://www.athena.lt/home>) invites to submit the articles for the thematic issue /Philosophical Reflections on Media and Technology/.

Media and technology are important topics in contemporary philosophical reflections. They were discussed in the works of renowned thinkers, such as B. Latour, D. Harraway, B. Stiegler, F. Kittler – to name only a few – their insights have shaped the way we live and think in our highly technologized world.

However, recent technological developments and the rise of machine learning and artificial intelligence urge us to think further about the impact of media on culture and humans, and formulate bolder hypotheses concerning the modes of technological existence and agency. Moreover, the new media and the smart technologies invite us to reconceptualize the classical philosophical questions and define the new ontological, epistemological, and ethical aspects of media and technology.

In this issue, we would like to stimulate the exchange of high-quality research that addresses philosophical and (meta)theoretical reflections of the media and technology. Potential themes and questions include, but are not limited to:

·Ontological perspectives on media and technology;

·Technology and the development of science;

·Media archaeology and media materialism;

·Media, technology and non-human environments, biological systems, media ecology;

·Technology and the social, hybrid agents, cyberspace;

·Technology, media and art practices;

·Ethical issues in the age of media and technology.

Please send the articles of 6,000 words by 30 June 2021 to Kęstas Kirtiklis ((kestutis.kirtiklis /at/ fsf.vu.lt) <mailto:(kestutis.kirtiklis /at/ fsf.vu.lt)>) and Danutė Bacevičiūtė ((danute.baceviciute /at/ lkti.lt) <mailto:(danute.baceviciute /at/ lkti.lt)>).

All submitted articles will be subject to peer review.
