*Call for Papers: 'depict'**
** Edited by Marj Kibby*
Inspired by reflections on John Berger's Ways of Seeing on the occasion
of his recent death, the M/C Journal 'depict' issue looks at the other
side of the communication event - ways of representing, portraying,
illustrating, rendering.
While articles could include the depiction of social groupings in the
media, it would also cover a wider range of topics such as:
* Visual representation of data
* Self-representation and branding
* Visual depiction and power relations
* Pictograms and public communication
* Internet memes and other forms of visual rhetoric
* Visual communication in social media
* Digital images and everyday aesthetics
* Professional journalism and amateur news content
Prospective contributors should email an abstract of 100-250 words and a
brief biography to the issue editors. Abstracts should include the
article title and should describe your research question, approach, and
argument. Biographies should be about three sentences (maximum 75 words)
and should include your institutional affiliation and research
interests. Articles should be 3000 words (plus bibliography). All
articles will be refereed and must adhere to MLA style (6th edition).
Please send any enquiries to (depict /at/ journal.media-culture.org.au). All
articles must be submitted through the M/C Journal site.
Abstract deadline 16 May 2017
Article deadline: 16 June 2017
Issue release date: 16 Aug. 2017

meeting of media and culture. Contributors are directed to past issues
of M/C Journal for examples of style and content, and to the submissions
page for comprehensive article submission guidelines. M/C Journal
articles are blind peer-reviewed.
