CALL FOR PAPERS N°35: COMMUNICATION AND EDUCATION: EXPANDING THE FRONTIERS

GUEST EDITORS: Rayén Condeza and Mar de Fontcuberta

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: September 30, 2014

The main theme of the next issue of Cuadernos.info will delve into theoretical advances and recent research in the area of comunication-education, in order to showcase current trends and future applications. Our purpose is to cover and share current knowledge in this interdisciplinary area of study, practice and training, which is acquiring growing relevance to the current and future development of societies.

Communication-education is constantly revising the assumptions from which the complex relationship between both fields has been traditionally understood. For example, to overcome a doubly stereotyped vision, which reduces communication only to the mass media and its technological advances and limits education to the classroom or to formal education. Communication-education is a field that poses new challenges to research in areas of communication research at all levels (local, national, regional and international). Agencies such as UNESCO and the OECD, to name just a few, have long consider it one of the central routes of development and public policy. In this context, we invite researchers and academics to contribute with empirical research and founded theoretical reflections, which are the result of research and studies in the area.

The current challenges of the comunication-education field are multiple and heterogeneous. Original contributions preferably dedicated to the following topics will be accepted for the main theme of this issue of Cuadernos.info:

* The ways in which the media and digital environment affects culture at various levels, such as the way to relate to others, communicate, inform, build and manage knowledge, educate and learn in different social contexts. * The impact of applied communication strategies to solve problems in different institutions, spaces and scenarios (e.g. communication and cultural management, communication and health, intercultural communication, etc.) in the learning of their audiences and users. * Successful experiences of media and technology use in the area, which have promoted changes of perceptions and attitudes in people. * Case studies of application of communication-education in public policies.
    * Concept evolution and its theoretical approaches in recent years.
