>Following the success of the 2005 Media History and History in the Media
>conference, this conference will focus on the relationship between the
>media and time.

>The relationship of the media to time has been a subject of intense
>interest. The media are time bound artefacts which have been created
>within specific temporal contexts. The form taken by many media is a
>consequence of their time-bound nature. Yet equally, forms of
>communication (manuscript, print, electronic) have been instrumental in
>representing and ordering time. They have been part of the processes
>whereby changing conceptions of time (sacred, daily, historical, and
>secular) have been developed and disseminated. From manuscript
>circulation, through print (books, serials, magazines, newspapers) to more
>modern forms of communication (telegraph, film, radio and TV) the media
>have played a decisive part the development of the social experience of
>time and in the use of time in societies.

>We invite contributions ranging across centuries, focusing on any media
>form, on the subject of the relationship between the media and time. We
