“Content creators”. Capturing the economic, social, and material realities of creation on digital platforms

Deadline for abstracts: May 4, 2026
Deadline for first full versions of selected papers: November 23, 2026

RESET (Recherches en Sciences Sociales sur Internet) invites submissions for a special issue entitled “Content creators”. Capturing the economic, social, and material realities of creation on digital platforms.

This special issue is coordinated by Quentin Gilliotte (CARISM, Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas), Marion Michel (CARISM, Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas), and Phoebé Pigenet (CARISM, Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas).

The issue seeks to bring together empirically grounded contributions on the economic, social, and material realities of content creation on digital platforms. Proposals from Communication and Media Studies scholars are especially welcome, including interdisciplinary contributions that explicitly engage with communication, media, platforms, and digital content production.

The special issue is structured around three areas:

 1.

    Social and Professional Trajectories of Content Creators

 2.

    Making a Living in the Content Creation Market

 3.

    Creative Production and Formatting Under Constraints

Abstracts should be no longer than 4,000 characters (excluding references) and should be sent in Word format or equivalent by May 4, 2026, to:

Proposals may be submitted in English or French. They should include:

  *

    the research question;

  *

    the methodology used (including details on materials and corpora);

  *

    the theoretical framework employed;

  *

    the expected findings or current results.

Proposals should clearly state the scientific contribution of the article in relation to the existing literature and to the aims of the special issue, and should be accompanied by a short bibliography.

No submission fees, publication fees, or APCs will be required from authors.
