[Commlist] Journal of Global Diaspora & Media 6.1 published

Wed Jan 28 12:23:04 GMT 2026

Intellect is pleased to present Journal of Global Diaspora & Media 6.1!

Special Issue: ‘Diaspora, Rethinking Praxis and Theory in Communication for Development’

This Special Issue challenges western-dominated development communication scholarship by centring voices from the Global South and its diaspora. While digital technologies have transformed communication for development (C4D) practices, traditional media remain critical in driving development initiatives across the Global South. The contributions explore how diaspora communities are fundamentally rethinking both theoretical foundations and practical applications of C4D through innovative uses of communication platforms.

Aims & Scope

Journal of Global Diaspora and Media (GDM) is a peer-reviewed journal that provides a platform to theorize the complexities of the notion of diaspora and investigate the representations of diaspora people in the diasporic media and mainstream media from an interdisciplinary approach. The journal explores the roles played by the media to project the diaspora voices and facilitate their engagement and interaction with communities, agencies and governments at home and host nations.

GDM is associated with ECREA DMM and IAMCR/DIM.
