Tue Jan 27 21:57:52 GMT 2026
We are delighted to share that we will be hosting another online course
on arts-based research methods 😊. The course will be led by Dr Robyn
Muir, Lecturer in Media, and Dr Maria Adams, Associate Professor in
Criminology at the University of Surrey, and will run on the following
dates:
3rd February
31st March
2nd June
Further details and registration information can be found here:
https://www.surrey.ac.uk/cpd-and-short-courses/arts-based-research-methods-online-1
This course explores the significance of art as a research method within
qualitative inquiry. It introduces the key theoretical foundations
underpinning the use of arts-based methods and examines both their
benefits and challenges in research contexts. Participants will consider
how arts-based approaches can inform and strengthen research design, as
well as the practical considerations involved in their application and
how they can complement other methodological approaches within a study.
The course will also explore the types of research settings and
participant groups that may particularly benefit from arts-based
methods, alongside an in-depth discussion of the ethical considerations
involved. Finally, the session will examine how arts-based approaches
can shape and influence the dynamics between researchers and participants.
We warmly encourage anyone with an interest in arts-based research
methods to attend, particularly early career researchers, academics, and
practitioners.
