MethodsNET and the Central European University (CEU) are pleased to 
announce the 2026 edition of the Summer School in Social Science 
Methods. This program offers rigorous methodological training tailored 
for researchers, PhD candidates, and senior scholars across social 
sciences, including Communication and Media Studies.

THE PROGRAMME

The 2026 Summer School features a comprehensive array of intensive 
courses covering qualitative, quantitative, and hybrid methods. 
Participants can choose from online introductory courses followed by one 
or two weeks of in-person deep-dive sessions in Vienna.

Key course areas include:

  * Qualitative Data Analysis & Coding
  * Discourse Network Analysis
  * Critical Discourse Analysis: Texts, Contexts and Power
  * Introduction to Ethnography and Fieldwork
  * Introduction to R and Quantitative Text Analysis
  * Comparative Research Designs & QCA
  * Multilevel Modeling

ACADEMIC CREDITS & NETWORKING

Participants can earn ECTS credits through CEU. Beyond the classroom, 
the Summer School serves as a global hub for academic networking, 
offering free daily "Cross-Cutting" short courses and a vibrant social 
program in the heart of Vienna.
