*Intellectual properties im/materialities Research Fellowships*
**
We are looking to appoint 2**research fellows (12 months) to work on
the intellectual properties im/materialities project at the University
of Queensland. Successful applicants will join a multi-disciplinary team
at UQ that includes members from the law, sciences, humanities, social
sciences, and information technology based at the St. Lucia campus in
Brisbane.
The postdoctoral fellows will explore the role that im/materiality plays
in intellectual property and adjacent areas of law, how this has been
and is being challenged by scientific and technological developments,
and what the consequences of these changes might be in the future.
Successful candidates will be expected to have a knowledge of, or
interest in, intellectual property. We are particularly interested in
applicants who combine these skills with an interest or experience in an
interdisciplinary area of research, such as science technology studies
or socio-legal studies, or have an interest in anthropology, history or
related areas of study.
Potential areas of research include (but are not limited to):
* The impact of dematerialisation on access and benefit sharing.
* The role that visibility plays in intellectual property law,
including the techniques that have been used to render the invisible
visible, and how this has changed over time
* An examination of the techniques used to quantify, measure,
propertise, and share dematerialised genetic resources
* The challenges digital sequence information poses for the regulation
of techno-scientific practices, the movement of biological
materials, and access and benefit sharing.
**

The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to:
* Undertake research and prepare manuscripts for publication in high
quality academic journals and/or presses related to the project
* Present research findings at conferences and workshops.
* Help to organise a conference on IP and im/materiality
*About You *
· Completion or near completion of a PhD on a relevant

qualitative research methods.
· An emerging research profile in the research area
including conference presentations and publications in reputed refereed
journals.
· Knowledge of theory in science and technology studies,
history, anthropology, socio-legal studies, or related areas.
