[Commlist] Race and Media Conference 2026
Tue Jan 20 08:47:15 GMT 2026
We are delighted to share that the full programme is now live for the
Race and Media Conference, taking place at the University of Leeds on
22–23 April 2026.
Registration is open, with limited spaces remaining.
The conference brings together scholars, practitioners, and artists from
across media, communication, cultural studies, sociology, and related
fields to examine how race is produced, contested, and lived through
contemporary media cultures. Across two days, the programme features
panels, roundtables, and practice-based sessions addressing themes
including (but not limited to):
– Race, racism, and the media industries
– Representation, visibility, and power
– Digital media, platforms, and algorithmic culture
– Creative labour, diversity, and inequality
– Global, diasporic, and postcolonial media formations
– Anti-racist, decolonial, and abolitionist approaches to media research
and practice
With over 100 presenters and a strongly international line-up, the
conference aims to foster critical, interdisciplinary, and dialogic
conversations about race and media in the current conjuncture.
You can view the full programme and register here:

Please note that registration is capped and places will be allocated on
a first-come, first-served basis.
We would be very grateful if you could circulate this announcement to
colleagues and networks who may be interested.
