The Department of Cinema and Digital Media in the Faculty of 
Communication at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Turkey, invites 
applications for a full-time faculty position. We are seeking candidates 
with a Ph.D. in a relevant field, with research interests in or adjacent 
to Film Studies, Media Studies, or Communication Studies. The position 
is open to applicants at all career stages, from early career to more 
senior scholars (Open Rank).

This position primarily focuses on teaching *studio-based, practical 
courses* in the Cinema and Digital Media Program (e.g., film production, 
media arts, interactive media, transmedia storytelling). We seek 
candidates with strong experience in teaching *hands-on, studio courses* 
where students develop practical skills in digital filmmaking and media 
arts. While the role also involves teaching *theoretical courses* (e.g., 
film history, film theory, documentary theory, world cinema), the 
emphasis for this position is on experience in practical, studio-based 
instruction.

The Cinema and Digital Media Program offers an innovative undergraduate 
education that combines *intensive studio training* with a solid 
foundation in film theory and media studies. Our curriculum includes 
both *practical courses* (e.g., editing, cinematography, 
post-production) and *theoretical courses* (e.g., experimental film, 
psychoanalysis and cinema, documentary theory, etc.). Students are 
expected to apply their theoretical knowledge in hands-on studio settings.

Founded in 2001 by the Izmir Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation, 
IUE is a private non-profit institution with an enrollment of 15,000 
students. As of 2024, IUE offers a wide range of undergraduate, 
graduate, and Ph.D. programs in English, granting BA, MA, and Ph.D.
